distance between bridge and the strings?

Hello everyone,

Is there a certain distance that should be between the bridge and the strings? I am being told by one of the dealers that the violin that i decided to buy from a different dealer is not made right..he is saying that the strings are too high..

the dealer said that there are specific mm distance for each string..does anyone know what it should be?

Looking for a new violin

Hi,

I am a student. I would like to buy a violin. From my research I think I would like a European violin, prefferably early 20th sentury. I would also like to pay up to $2,000.

Any suggestions for me as to where to look? I live in NY.
