I got 3 job offers today - yipeee!!! One in the Bay area and 2 in Portland (same company). I go up there again for one last round of interviews but the HR lady told me she will have a written offer on her desk when I get there it just a matter of which one I want. So, now comes the move, finding a new teacher, and back to viola shopping again! And I did all this just a few months ago when I came back from Malaysia. Well, I guess I have practice doing this so it shouldn't be to difficult this time around.Anyone know of any viola teachers and good shops in the Portland area?
I also just moved up to Portland from the Bay Area a few weeks ago. I'm from Oregon, and it's great to be back.
Schuback Violins is a reputable shop. I swapped my viola for a violin at his shop years ago.

David Kerr is another.

Quite a few makers also live in Oregon. Check out their websites.
John Hill (who made my violin)
Jeff Manthos
Jonathan Franke
David Gusset
David Rivinius
If you're ever interested in playing duos, let me know.
Good luck!
Johnny
Thanks for the input. This will help with the shopping. I would be interested in duets once I get settled in someplace. What level are you playing at?
I sent you a separate message, with a link to teachers.
