1) I went to Taiwan with my family in October, for the first time in 11 years. Here is a picture of me playing my cousin's erhu:

I managed "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star", though it was a weird feeling to press the strings without the support of a fingerboard and to manipulate the bow hair so directly. I have even more appreciation now for those people who manage stuff like Zigeunerweisen or the Introduction & Rondo Capriccioso on this instrument!
2) My violin teacher has me working on Piazzolla tangos for a music festival in Feburary. They are SO much fun, and it's neat to see a playful side to him as we work on the musical aspects of the pieces.
3) I got laid off in November and thus have a lot more leisure time, though somehow it hasn't translated into increased violin practicing...
4) Joshua Bell's birthday is today. If you'd like, you can post a birthday message here.
That's all for now, folks!
It's good to hear from you again, Karin. I've been thinking about you and wondering how you were doing. Please write more and keep us up to date about you. I've missed you.
Sorry to hear about your job situation!
Sounds like a neat trip, though.
How do you post pictures in the new blog format? I tried briefly yesterday to update my blog and include a picture and couldn't figure it out and gave up. Do you now have to have the picture on another server and link to it?
Thanks, Pauline and Karen! It's nice to be missed. :) And yes, Karen, I ended up posting my picture on a third-party hosting site and linking to it. I didn't see a way to upload to V.com directly.
