Grind grind grind...

March 14, 2007 at 11:52 PM

I have some very interesting things going on in my violin life, but at the moment I'm too busy to post about them because I'm trying to get Kreutzer No. 7 memorized for my lesson on Friday. (...almost to the whole note...just a couple more measures....) This entry is just to let anyone who wonders---or cares :)---that I'm still alive and still playing!

More soon.

Of course we all care! What would be worrisome to us here would be if you were no longer alive AND still playing.

Kidding. Don't be dead, please. We'd miss you.

Karin,

I was curious, since you are working on Kreutzer No. 7, are you doing that as part of a structured method of instruction, or are you just doing that because you and/or your teacher love the piece?
Hope you are doing well, I'll be updating my blog soon - I just had a lesson last night.

Hi Paul, I'm definitely doing it as an etude, if that's your question. If the fact that I'm memorizing it is what's puzzling you, that's on the instructions of my teacher. But I have found that the way I think about both musicality and technique is quite different when I have the music in front of me and when I don't.
