Mailinglist for rare pdf-violinconcerto's. DONANHYI1, LALO op.20, VIEUXTEMPS3 + soundsamples

February 16, 2006 at 10:28 PM

Do you also want to join my mailing list? Here my second mail with Dohnanyi1, Lalo op.20, Vieuxtemps3 and links where you can hear soundfragments. I got a reaction from Joseph Gold. He has a soundsample on the openingpage of www.violinist.com:

Dear Mr. Heemskerk,
Thank you for your letter. There are many fine violin concertos that are never performed- and many bad concertos that everyone plays!
I performed the Goddard Concerto and violin sonata many years ago. They are very charming works.
I know that Sarasate preferred to perform Lalo's Concerto in F Major rather than the Symphony Espagnole ( I have an important letter written by Sarasate, and he explains his preference!)
The orchestration to one of Sarasate's Spanish dances was arranged by Lalo.
Perhaps you knew that Sarasate had one of the largest repertoires of any violinist. In fact, there are many compositions dedicated to him. He played most of them. He even performed Wieniawski's 2nd Concerto. I have the concert program which proves this.
I hope this information is interesting to you.
Sincerely,

Joseph Gold

Greetings,

I thing Szigeti played the Dohnyanni (sorry cant spell this morning)
Best of luck with your endeavours

That Misha Keylin Vieuxtemps album is fantastic, I have it at home and I thoroughly recommend it, the tone is great and the playing takes the biscuit.

"...takes the biscuit." I'm going to start using that phrase, beginning today.
