more rambles......

It's finally beginning to happen.......I'm actually enjoying the sounds I'm getting from my violin ! After about 4 years I seem to be getting the hang of this. I still havn't gotten a handle on vibrato yet...but my tone has improved so much that I actually sound pretty nice...vibrato or no. (I'm sure the violin itself has more to do with that though..I've heard this fella played by someone who knows how..)

I've been working on Rieding's, Op 35 in Bm....a very easy piece, all in first position. It's easy enough that I don't have to concentrate so much on "What" i'm doing as much as "How" I'm playing. I've been focusing more on timing and intonation. A fun piece to play...for me anyway.

I'm Still getting plenty of time on it most days..sometimes a couple of hours all at once, or spaced out between other tasks at home here. Thank you Uncle Dan for that air conditioner ! LOL ! We've had temps up to 100 this week...the timing of that gift couldn't have been better. He moved into a condo with central air and so has no need of it at this time. He's a great brother in law ! :D

My fiddle group has been working on Orange Blossom Special...an easier rendition seeing as how our group is a mixture of abilities from beginners to advanced. I was one of the few who were able to get through it to the end in one piece....lol. All those hours I'm able to get in practicing is a definite advantage !

God is so good to me all the time...I have no idea why ! It just seems that He chooses to bless most everything in my life..from family (even the husband who is less than appreciative and supportive concerning my violin...he's a good husband in just about every other way) to fiddle to fish ! (haha, I have an aquarium hobby as well..here's a link to my "fish" blog http://emgstanks.blogspot.com/ ) If not for His blessing and provision I would not be playing this violin !

(OK...so I don't know how to add a url link to this blog..lol....)

Hey Eileen, congrats! It took me about 25 years to start liking the sounds that came out of MY violin. :)

well....haha...I did say "beginning" LOL ! I have a very long way to go. I certainly wouldn't say I would be satisfied to remain here where I am at this point, but I am greatly excited and encouraged to wonder how much better I'll be a year...two, five... years down the road. Keeps me on it ! :D
