I got some wonderful Fritz Kreisler pieces to play. This week, I'm going to play Sicilienne (in the style of Francoeur) and Rigaudon. I final got the one spot in Rigaudon fixed. It is wonderful. I'm even to get the B octaves in tune when I have to slid up the E string. I have constantly fell short jumping from the B (forth finger, first position) to the octave B (forth finger, eigth position). I've worked on Caprice Viennois.... and I've had a little trouble. I'm actually doing well with the double stops in the B major section, but in the intro, there is a chromatic scale starting on a B (third finger in 10th position) on the d string all the way down to an F on in second position on the D string, so there are a lot of notes you can miss. I also looked at Praeludium and Allegro. The allegro is quite tough, with non-stop 16th not passages. It ought to be Praludium and Perpetual Modem.

I brought the Bach back out to practice some 16th note passages to help me with the Kreisler stuff.

I bought Perlman's Cd that has Lalo's Symphony Spagnole, Saint-Saens's Violin Concerto No. 3, and Barlioz's Reverie et Caprice. I have enjoyed it non-stop. Dare I say it's better than my Heifetz playing Brahms CD? No, I just find it more interesting because I have not listened to it a thousand times yet.
