Let me introduce again a Dutch violinist. 2 years ago I played the violinconcerto of Beethoven with her. She played the second part very, very slow and it was not as dull as it usually sounds, but a bit beautiful, so that the concert lasted more than 45 minutes, the length of my cassettetape. But I was a bit disappointed that she choose the silly Beethovenviolinconcerto (which I had played with another amateurorchestra before) - not his best piece, the string quartets of Beethoven are much better- and not a rare and more beautiful violinconcerto. Most of the time an amateurorchestra choose a piece and is than looking for a soloist, but this time the cello-player of her violin/cello/piano-trio played with us before and she was visiting that concert of her cellist, so the president of the committee of the amateurorchestra asked her what she wanted to play with us. Although she was second with the two-yearly national competition, she had improved her playing and recently was winner of the two-yearly international violincompetition "Concours International Long – Thibaud in Paris.

Next weekend our first rehearsal of national champion Birthe Blom playing violinconcerto of Sibelius with Musica. I think she drinks Vieux Temps beer with her (music?)friend.

Some time ago Pauline Lerner asked for my postadress. Yesterday I got this violincard of her. Thanks! Pauline, I didn't have this one. I have made some scans of it.

One amateurorchestra wanted to play something of my favorite composer Vieuxtemps, his first celloconcerto op.46. Stefanie Prenn is soloist. We have rehearsed 2 times with her. I gave her a bottle of Vieux Temps-beer and a Vieux Tempsglas.

Hello,
I have played as second violinist symphonic dances of Rachmaninov and I played this part of the first violins and the conductor had no comments.

Paganini: Violin Concertos

I made a mistake in my last entry, but I can't change it.
If you have not looked regularly to the "violin blog", you miss now entries, if the entry is not on page one. Before Robert Niles changed the website it was possible to look to previous pages with older entries. Now you have to look in the personal weblog of the bloggers to see whether people have written something new.
And that is too much work, so I liked the old way where you could look back some pages, if you had not looked on violinist.com for some days.
PART 7 Why are these rare violinconcerto's never been played or seldom (and never) recorded?

Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, Sir Arthur Somervell: Violin Concertos

With a friend I was in Maastricht in the South of the Netherlands for carnival, where I saw Andre Rieu last summer, and he made this picture on the same square where Rieu gave 3 times his open airconcert in the city where he was born for 3 x 10.000 people. Next year I must have a Halloweencarnivalsuit, although I have a beautiful scarf and Orange speedskating Dutch cap here:

I was in the South in Holland for carnaval and we went to Aachen in Germany, just over the bordder and there I found this violincard for my collection. But it misses a F-hole.
