I won!!!!!

September 13, 2006 at 3:51 AM

So the Loudoun Symphony Orchestra in Leesburg, VA needed an assistant concertmaster. It's basically a volunteer orchestra (but you have to audition for it, of course), with paying principal and assistant principal positions. I did a sub job for them last spring, so I decided "oh, what the heck" and auditioned for it, not thinking I had that good a shot of getting it.

They sent me excerpts from Shosty 5, Brahms 1 (including the awesome concertmaster solo in the slow movement), the Rimsky Capriccio Espagnol, Borodin, Haydn, and Schubert symphonies.

And I won. I got the freakin' job. Rehearsals start tomorrow.

YES! Practicing like crazy for years is paying off! Who'd have thought?
