 The problem with this kind of polls is that they will give you an answer.

Amen to what Bart said.  A completely useless poll.  Like the questions that come up periodically about what the best strings are.

David Oistrakh, my favorite, is not even in the list when he could "outdo" many who are in IMHO so you see, they just put the most popular in style violinists and that's it.  (I like many in the list by the way.  I'm not telling I don't)  But they forgot so so many outstanding musicians that it is RIDICULOUS. 

The proof, 47% of the people (the highest percentage in a category) tells that the best is not in the list...   very telling about the seriousness of such a survey...
