So, I have Georgia All-State Orchestra auditions coming up in two weeks, exactly. So, I felt yesterday's practice would be a good time to review my excerpts. They were all okay, but I need to work on the Second Excerpt from Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet and the Fifth excerpt, which is from Copland's Bukaroo Holiday.

I've looked at my new Haydn Concerto No. 1 in C. At first, I didn't really like it. I had just finished Mozart, and I was expecting Haydn to be a lot like Mozart 3, but it isn't.

So, while I was singing Haydn in the shower last night, I realized what a good piece it is. I was able to figure out the phrases, and it is a lot more fun to play now. Although, practicing Haydn isn't so fun. I have work to do in order to play it in-tune, as stupid as that sounds, the key of C isn't the easiest to play in. In fact, I don't think I have ever played a concerto in the key of C.

Mozart 4 was in D
Lalo (Symphonie Espagnole) was in d
Bruch was in g
Mozart 3 was in G

hmm...

Well, I've worked on Bach a little. It's more like re-learning it, since I haven't had lessons in so long. Anyways, I was supposed to have Minuet I from Partita No. 3 ready a couple of weeks ago, but my teacher had to cancel lessons, and then the next week, my mom couldn't take me to lessons. So, Wednesday, I will finally have lessons.

And I need to work on Kreutzer. Schradieck is fine. I fixed all the left hand problems I was having. However, all the right hand/arm trouble I am having in kreutzer needs to be fixed, so I guess I will practice that slowly today.

Hopefully, I can go to Home Depot and buy my dad a late christmas gift: a chainsaw. Then, we'll get to go outside and cut some trees down.

Hey the only other concerto I know that's in C is the Kabalevski- You should totally play because it's so much fun and not too horrendous to learn
