I was kinda down about not making All-State. My private teacher was quite certain I was going to make it. And when I got in audition room I wasn't even nervous. I did a decent job, not grade A, but grade B playing. I guess 40 other violinist did Grade A work, and about 499 other violinists had grade b work just like me, and didn't make it. Next year, I will, God willing.

But now I'm amazed at one of the new CDs I bought. Brahms VC and Double Concerto with Heifetz and Piatigorsky. Mind-blowing. I thought the Tchaikovsky VC was hard, until I heard the Brahms. It has really inspired me. I want to be play violin professionally.
