Sorry....

March 29, 2008 at 8:40 PM

I posted a blog then I need to post another one and I didn't want to edit the other one. So I was watching "Raise Your Voice". Anyways I was watching the one girl who plays the violin. And I was wondering: Do violinist who play college level and all that stuff have four fine tuners on it? I don't know I just always go the impression that college level violinist got rid of the three lower fine tuners although I could be getting the wrong impression.

I use fine tuners on all four strings because my hands/wrists are weak and I can't handle the pegs well.

Bob, my experience is similar to yours. The Bach Double has always been one of my favorite pieces, especially the second movement. I've been looking forward to playing it with a student. I finally have a student who is finishing Suzuki Book 4, which contains, as its last piece, the violin 2 part of the first movement of the Bach Double. The violin 1 part is at then of Suzuki Book 5. I went through the score, changing fingering and bowing if I really felt the music that way. It's amazing how much you forget if you haven't played something in a few years. I'm helping my student with her part and starting to play my part. I have the motivation to work hard because I love this music and I'd love to play it with my student. I've dreamed of doing this for a long time.

Sorry. My last comment was meant for another blog.

I have one fine-tuner on the violin I use most. My second violin has a different sound and the 4 fine-tuners change the weight and balance of the instrument. i don't care for the 4. I do Ok with just one.
