Violists Converge on Oberlin for American Viola Society Festival
It's all viola for me this week!
Oberlin, Ohio is "Violatown" this week as hundreds of violists from all over the U.S. converge in northern Ohio for the American Viola Society Festival at Oberlin College & Conservatory, which began today and lasts through Saturday. I'm on my way there to catch some of the master classes, lectures, workshops, performances and exhibits.

Among the guest artists are Kim Kashkashian, Robert Vernon, Elmar Oliveira, Kenji Bunch and previous winners from the Primrose International Viola Competition, Ayane Kozasa and Zhanbo Zheng.
Viola music will take center stage, with performers from Ohio and all over the country. A vendor exhibit promises viola swag, and recitals will feature new viola music as well as familiar favorites. There are even daily health and wellness sessions!
I'm looking forward to learning more from my colleagues in the lower strings, and watch for a lot of viola stories on Violinist.com, this week and next!
