4 RARE VIOLINCONCERTO'S , Penderecki2, Britten, Szymanowski1, Joachim2 in Rotterdam + my half-yearrepertoirelist

March 8, 2007 at 11:48 AM

I got the programm of the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra for the season 07/08 and they had in the programming of the Symphonic Adventures 4 RARE VIOLINCONCERTO'S. So I jumped into the air. Earlier Christian Tetzlaff said to me after his concert of Mozart3,4,5 violinconcerto's that he would play the Hungarian violinconcerto2 of Joseph Joachim this winter, but it is now next winter.
Also Penderecki 2th violinconcerto by Julian Rachlin
Britten violinconcerto by Antje Weithaas
Szymanowski 1th violinconcerto by Nikolaj Znaider
All good reasons to visit the concerthall to hear these rarities.

Yesterday we had a grouprehearsal with 1th and 2th violinists together of the former concertmaster of the Residentie Orchestra in The Hague(Den Haag) Jaring Walta, who gives now lessons at the Royal Conservatory at The Hague(Den Haag) and he said it was a pity that rarities like Vieuxtemps 4 and 5 and Paganini4 have been disappaered from the repertoire.
He studied with us Richard Wagner , Ouverture “Tannhäuser” and Paul Hindemith , Symphonic Metamorphosen.
Here my programm for this half year of 5 orchestra's:

Mondayeveningorchestra: Stravinsky firebird, Milhaud, violaconcerto; Satie, Parade; Ron Ford, special written composition for us: PS4PT

Tuesdayeveningorchestra: Glauzunov violinconcerto, Elgar Enigma variations, Rimsky Korsakov Legend of the invisible city of Kitesch

Wednesdayeveningorchestra: Richard Wagner , Ouverture “Tannhäuser”; Sergei Prokevjev , violinconcerto no.1 ;Maurice Ravel ,Pavane pour une infante défunte ; Paul Hindemith , Symphonic Metamorphosen

Thursdayeveningorchestra : Albert Roussel Concert ,Antonin Reicha symfony F-Dur 1808, Berlioz Summer nights

Weekendprojectorchestra : C. Debussy: 'Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune' ; E. Chausson, Poème ; M. Ravel: Tzigane ; A. Bruckner: Symfony nr. 9

Glad to see someone playing the Britten. I'm learning this concerto right now, and it's really a great piece!
