During a coffee-break in a rehearsal of one of my 5 weekly amateurorchestra’s (we played the 13th symfony of Shostakovitsch) there was a painter, Judith Rigter, who painted me in 20 minutes for only 30 euro on this painting of 18 x 24 cm. My left arm was a bit tired after those 20 minutes in this position without any ‘tacet’ rest-bars where I could lower my arm.

She made more orchestrapaintings during the rehearsal, also on her website, where you could also find a scan of this painting: http://www.xs4all.nl/~guidoio/judith/webgallery/schilderij%20paintings/schilderijen%20paintings%20music/index.html

I like all of the paintings. Years ago, the community symphony orchestra I played in sometimes had an artist with us during rehearsals. She was the significant other of the principal cellist. Sometimes she would sketch us as we rehearsed. I remember her showing us one of her drawings and saying apologetically, "The violin section looks kind of sketchy." The conductor replied, "They sound kind of sketchy, too."
