Pieces of Ysaye for violin AND ORCHESTRA + VIOLINCONCERTO

November 30, 2005 at 11:41 AM

From someone I know by www.violinist.com , Carlos Majlis, I got this cd. I had a recording of opus 12 Poeme elegiaque for violin and piano from Frank Peter Zimmerman with also the well known sonata op.27 (Ballade etc, first round candidates of the Queen Elisabeth competition had to play one sonate of the 6 of opus 27), but this version for violin and orchestra of opus 12 Poeme elegiaque is much richer in tone. Also his posthumus violinconcerto nr.8 (are there 7 more?) is good. I wrote to the manager of Albrecht Breuninger Rod Sudbrack and he told that CPO will release the official cd in February/march 2006. I hope there will be no new delay, because it is great music. I know already Chant d’hiver op.15 from a recording of Aaron Rosand on Vox Box, also a great piece. Both pieces make me think of Poeme of Ernest Chausson, which I play soon with an amateurorchestra and a student of the conservatory, who was concertmaster of this amateurorchestra.

Stephanie Steiner. Concert is: Sunday 11-12-05, 15.00 uur, Remonstrantse kerk Den Haag, Laan van Meerdervoort 955. At first she wants to play the violinconcerto of Ernest Bloch,(the reason why I join this orchestra) but we (Bataafs symfonie orkest) got the musical score (partituur) too late.
Last sunday when you played Havanaise, I played with Sonja van Beek (who also played after the 3 finalists during the last Oscar Back) the violinconcerto of Philip Glass in the new Concertgebouw/Beurs van Berlage, Muziekcentrum aan het IJ in Amsterdam. Sorry I missed your concert. During that Glass I also had from another (combination of 2)orchestra's a concert of 2th symfony of Mahler in Beurs van Berlage. But that I gonna play in the Philipszaal in Den Haag saturday 3-12-2005 20.15
If you give your adress I can sent you this Ysaye-cd. Also Joshua Bell (did you know Sydney Menees?)played on an early cd Poeme from Ernest Chausson.
