Coffee Cantata? JS Bach wrote a Coffee Cantata? Why didn't someone tell me this before?

I knew there was a deeper reason why he was my favorite.

"If I can't drink my bowl of coffee three times daily, then in my torment I will shrivel up like a piece of roast goat."

How about latte or cappucino?

The cantatas are Bach's best stuff by FAR. By FAR far. An excellent complete set was being produced when I was in school and they were in the music library. Back then it was about a million bux on vinyl, but you could probably buy the whole thing now bootlegged on a Chinese DVD for $5.

Someday I'll have to finish my libretto for Gott, Mein Luck ist Gebroken.

You can't get better than a coffee cantata. It's just not possible.

The arias with violin obbligato knock me out.

I thought this was a joke at first (especially with the reference being BMV211, instead of BWV211) but he actually wrote it. I not only found reference to it in New Grove, but also found a number of recordings in the Classical Music Library which my uni has a subscription to. I love it - it's my favourite cantata as well now :>

I downloaded the mp3 some time last month, but am still in the midst of searching for the CD recording. The record store here doesn't have much variety when it comes to non-contemporary music. :(

A delightful number. Kaffee, kaffee...

Hey, you know what, I think it was your blog that first enlightened me to the Coffee Cantata. Thanks!
