Today was viola Saturday...7 hours of Alard scales, Bach and Teleman, and of course coffee.I seem to ignore the viola too much. It is a powerful voice and not deserving of all those viola jokes.
Yeah.... I`ve been making only violas since 2005... Who made your viola
G. Marten Cornelissen, Northampton MA, anno 1973...16½"
Anyway you can show pics of the front, back and sides? Looks like a nice piece!
Royce, My camera and photographic abilities are far from those of Emily...the viola I have was commisioned by my father back in 1972. I don't even know how my dad even found info on Mr Cornelissen since he had recently come to the USA...My dad was like a kid at Christmas, waitnig and waiting. I had just got my first teaching job and gave him what was supposed to be my savings for a "muscle car"...I settled for a Plymouth Duster with a 6 cyl. which has been in a scrap yard for decades now... The moral of the story I guess is invest in instruments...The viola was purchased for $3000.00 back in 1973, and she is a "sweetie". The link below is for a recent creation and is for sale at Johnson Strings...the link shows front and back photos
Yes, it's a nice instrument...

Quick mention, re: muscle cars. A good friend of mine several years ago sold an AMC Rebel thyat he fixed up! Heard of them, but never seen one until then! Quite the car!
