While it probably happens to everyone (sometime), I couldn't help but be irritated when my violin started buzzing... I guess that it was lucky that the orchestras were all on spring break this week...
So anyway, I took my dear violin into the shop, and after about 20 minuets of looking, they couldn't find anything. They told me to try new strings. I did, and the buzzing got worse.
So, I took it back in, and they said they wanted to keep it there so that they could take it apart to find he problem. I'll admit that when they said they were going to take it apart, visions of them ungluing the seems went through my head (those were not pleasant thoughts).
I reluctantly left it there. But I guess I was lucky, cause they found and fixed the problem within 5 hours. Apparently the e string had cut all the way through the nut, so they fixed that somehow. They also put a new (unknown) e string on, I'm not sure how much I like it, but oh well...
Anyway, my violin is now safely back at home.
I've been bothered by intermittent buzzing sounds on my violin. I finally figured out what caused them: certain earrings on my left ear. Now if I hear that buzzing noise, I just take my left earring off, and the problem is solved.
Buzzes in chinrests, necklaces, and even the candle holder on my window ledge, but only on high B.
