I Am So Happy! WEEEEEE>>>>>

February 25, 2008 at 12:11 AM

After weeks of inactivity, I am writing a blog.

Today, I performed a recital on short notice--received the music a week ago, practiced it three times.

Oh, I did so good! Two years of working on sound and tone finally paid off. I shook, but did not lose dynamics or my bow. And I controlled those devilish little quivers with all my might. I didn't miss one note.

So, now on to the next segment of my study. I never received a solid foundation in rhythm, so I need to go back and drill myself, starting from the basics. I kind of rushed during the recital.

Otherwise, good, good, good.

I am so happy because just a few weeks ago, Anakin (my violin) and I had our biggest fight, yet. I cried and he screamed--horrible. I almost threw him out a window until I remembered he was not insured.

My sound improved so much and my bow control. I mean, I am just so happy.

Thanks to the V.com community. Special thanks to Buri, Joey Corpus, and Drew Lecher for their wonderful advice and future teaching. (Crowd cheers as I hold up my Grammy. Exit.)

Maybe Anakin screamed out of fear of being thrown out the window for what YOU were doing to him!!! …………… be more persuasive and he will gladly obey your every wish and command, even anticipating your every move:-)

Greetings,
congratualtions, but don`t hold up grammy for too long. Old people are more delicate than you think.
Cheers,

Go Jazzy! Congratulations and thanks for sharing the good news! What repertoire did you feature in this program?

Mr. Lecher,
Yeah, now that I remember, he screamed right before I was about to throw him out the window.

Buri, :)

Samuel,
Oh, I just played some Pleyel duets (no, not by myself). Seems easy, but when you're nervous, it's hard. Anyways, the big stuff comes in April, thank goodness. Vitali Chaconne and other pieces that I have not decided on, yet. My teacher keeps throwing big repertoire at me because she has faith in me, but I am not playing anything harder than Vitali Chaconne in public until I have more confidence in myself. (My teacher wants me to do the Mendelssohn for the April recital [she thinks I play it better than the Saint-Saens]; I was like, "Whoa! Slow down horsey.")

Congratulations! All your practicing really. It's great to walk out of a performance and feel good about what you just did.

I can see it now, you and Anakin dueling it out over a large empty space; he cuts your hand off and says, "I'm your father!" And you're hanging on with your one good arm, crying, "NOOOO!"

Funny! But sad to find out the love of my life is actually my father.
