Website redesign
January 24, 2006 at 12:46 PM
Here's something I've been working on for a while. I've done a complete redesign of my website, and have just loaded it up. Ben Clapton, violinist and composer. Please take a look and let me know what you think. Also, if there's any webdesigners out there, could you please take a look at the about page in internet explorer. There's a bug which is meaning the last word is repeated down a couple of lines. There's nothing in the code that means it would do that, and it's not doing it in firefox or netscape. It's odd, but I would like to have it not doing it any more.

I really like your new website. The layout is very good (visually appealing) and easy to read. Some specifics:
- The navigation links on the left sidebar are unambiguous. However, I got confused on the center part and clicked in places where I thought links would be. For example, on the home page, I tried to click on Ben Clapton – violin and on the dark blue square at the end of the light blue bar. After all, links are in blue, right? Of course, I know better, but I wonder if some of your other readers might be confused initially in the same way.
- I love the floating question mark. How did you do that?
- I liked your frequent use of comments in the code. I’ll revise my website accordingly.
- I really like your thanks. I especially like the way you singled Aleesha out and the phrase for supporting him in his dreams. That is so important. It prompted me to think about who I would thank in my life.
- On your home page, you said In the resources page, you will find links to … my friends websites. I didn’t see any. If you put in a link to my website, I’ll put in a link to yours. ;-)

Its an odd problem, so I think I'll e-mail a few people and see what I can find out. Thanks all for your help.

padding: 12 40 30 9
to padding: 12 0 30 9
and see the extraneous 'can' disappear.
Please don't post more technical problems. I'm like a crack addict with this stuff and can't stop until it's resolved. ;)
