Ziyu He wins Senior Division; Yesong Sophie Lee Wins Junior in 2016 Menuhin Competition
Congratulations to the laureates in the the 2016 Menuhin Competition, announced Friday and Saturday! Ziyu He, 16, of China, won First Prize in the Senior Division. He was the only male competitor among 22 violinists in the Senior Division for 2016. Yesong Sophie Lee, 12, of the U.S. won First Prize in the Junior Division.
Senior Division Laureates (ages 16-21):
- First Prize – £10,000: Ziyu He, 16, China
- Second Prize – £7,500: SongHa Choi, 16, South Korea
- Third Prize – £5,000: Yu-Ting Chen, 20, Taiwan
- Fourth Prize – £3,000: Jeein Kim, 20, South Korea
Junior Division Laureates (under age 16):
- First Prize – £5,000: Yesong Sophie Lee, 12, USA
- Second Prize – £4,000: Kevin Miura, 13, USA/Japan
- Third Prize – £3,000: Johan Dalene, 15, Sweden
- Fourth Prize – £2,000: NaKyung Kang, 12, South Korea
- Fifth Prize – £1,000: Anne Luisa Kramb, 15, Germany
