Bach Bach Bach!

October 21, 2007 at 06:39 AM · Though I love all the Bach in my future, I truly love Mozart--where should I start? (Please be gentle with step-wise development in place--I'm old!--but not as old as Buri.)

So what's up with Wolfy and violin? Is there a story there? Kimberlee--don't hold back on me! ;-D.

Bach will save your soul. Mozart will enlighten it.

But if you remember that volume of duets.... Tks.

October 21, 2007 at 03:34 PM · Ooooooch, Mozart is so hard....however, there are some lovely Adagios and a couple of short Rondos that might be approachable. (I forgot the K numbers, sorry...)

October 21, 2007 at 05:07 PM · Albert, I've found the following Mozart duo items listed:

For two violins: Deutsche Tanze- Schirmer ,

Duets 12, (edited Schulz) Op. 70, K. 152- Peters

12 easy duets, K. 487-Peters (these are the ones originally for 2 basset-horns, edited by Waldo Lyman, I believe)

12 easy duets (ed. Walker) - Schirmer

From my own collection I have:

an arrangement for two flutes (You can substitute two violins) of Mozart's Variations on "Ah!vous-dirai-je, Maman" (Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star)

and assorted arias from Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro for Two violins (very nice arrangements in a range from easy to moderately difficult by Ernst Kovacic) - Universal Edition

and Schulz's editing in a Peters edition of arrangements for two violins from the violin & piano sonatas of Mozart- these are very effective- you hardly miss the piano part- the arrangements very deftly cover the harmony and counterpoint. These are in places a bit more challenging but still not as difficult as the violin concerti overall.

Of the pieces for violin and piano, the Adagio in E major is probably the easiest- also Suzuki Book 7 has the Minuet in d minor from a Mozart String Quartet.

October 21, 2007 at 05:29 PM · Mr. Ron Mutchnik, Mara, Patricia--thank you. I'll grab these and preserve them--My practice room wall is starting to look like confetti at New Years!

But if I do not put things in front of my eyes....
