Kaplan Golden Spiral E.

April 7, 2004 at 04:40 AM · Greetings:

I have recently noticed a lot of violinitsts actually use the Kaplan Golden Spiral (Solo) E, examples being Rachlin, Linus Roth and Mutter, among others. Could you guys tell me what you think of this E string? Thanks.

April 8, 2004 at 10:27 AM · I use it, and I like it a lot. It's stable and the quality of workmanship is consistent. I haven't had many duds in... whoah... ten years of usage now.

The thing is, these E strings are ridiculously cheap. I think they're about $4? It's not such a huge investment if you want to try one out and see how it works on your violin (not like the gut strings people intermittently try to convince me to "try out").
