Just returned from a short vacation to Boston and Cape Cod. It was my first time in Bean Town and I loved the city. Went to a Boston Pops Baby Boomers concert and thoroughly enjoyed the fun programming- after all, I am a BB myself. Missed the fight by 2 nights, but Bostonians were still buzzing about it. Keith Lockhart led the sing-along at the end and folks around me sang with gusto to those tunes from our era. Boston was clean, busy (why weren’t all those people on the streets at work?) and friendly! Every time we pulled out our map someone stopped and offered directions to our destination. Favorites included the Duck Tour, lunch on Newberry street, old Ironsides, the Public Garden in full bloom, lighthouses on the Cape, and of course the Pops.

School is almost out for me but I am going to teach summer school for the first time. I think I may have had a senior moment when I agreed to do it, but the money is excellent and I am saving for a trip back to Italy. Our community orchestra is through with rehearsals until September and the last orchestra performance at church is this Sunday, so I’m looking at music to work on for the next few months.

I want to thank Terez et al for the book recommendations back in March. I’ve finished An Equal Music and Catching Genius – both were very good. I’m headed to Barnes and Noble to pick up something new from the list this afternoon.
