Wow, has it really been 10 years already since the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon?!?! I know that the time has passed, but somehow the wounds are still very fresh for me. Just like millions of people all over the world, Tuesday September 11, 2001 is a day that I will remember for the rest of my life. I remember EVERYTHING from that day. From finding out what happened just after 11AM (NY time), since I was in class with it was happening. To watching the TV's along with all my college classmates, to yelling at anyone to let me use a phone to call my base. I remember driving home (I live about 200 mile north of NYC) and looking across the skyline, thinking I would see the smoke from the buildings. As a current military member since 1998, the attacks that day, hit very close to home. My unit was put on lockdown that day, no one could enter or leave the base, and all available aircraft were ready to go anywhere they were needed. I have since also joined my local volunteer Fire Department and have been with them for almost 4 years now. I thought my wounds (emotional) had healed during these 10 years, but I guess I was wrong. The wounds are still very fresh and raw. Even with all the political discourse and economical woes going on, I am still a very proud American, and will be till the day I die!
GOD BLESS AMERICA
NEVER FORGET!!!!!!
