The 5th International Silent Film Festival in Manila

Last Sunday, August 27, my group Bandang Malaya had the pleasure of live scoring the Japanese silent film Akeyuku Sora (The Dawning Sky) for the 5th annual International Silent Film Festival in Manila.
We earned lots of kudos from everyone who saw it, from the representatives of the Japan Foundation to Germany's Stephan von Bothmer (whose direction of the FEU Chorale for Nosferatu completely blew me away).
but this brief SMS from my stepdad is the best of the lot:
"Ang galing! :-D Astig." (Great! :-D Cool.)
It's kept me smiling for days.
