beginner face question

Here is a question that my son asked me and I need better answers,

" Why when some people play their instruments do they make faces ? ( contort, make eyes wide, stick out tongue, )get what I mean

I do know why they close there eyes after seeing Mr. Rogers one morning and Yo-Yo the cellest was on, but that is a differnt thing

I have been given the chance to get a Paolo Lorenzo violin on a rent to own program and wondered what the members knew about this maker? I have been told it is an upper beginner lower advanced instrument which is what I am looking to get as an adult beginner which will also be a giant step up from my Chinese knock-off with painted fingerboard ect....

I know that there will be good and bad and I will have to make the decision on my own BUT all input is helpful

in responce this is not an online deal, a teacher told me of this dealer that has surperb deals !I can buy this intrument for less than 650. set-up W/ a fitted case
