Offeratory

July 30, 2007 09:25

At our church yesterday we have a small orchestra consisting of a pianist, clarinetist, guitarist(on occasion) and me(useually on the mandolin). Yesterday we had a second pianist. It was really fun when it came time for the offering. We have a really exciting theme going on there. I even used the mic so I got to play the lead line. I even felt sorry for our clarinetest who was drowned out by everyone elses playing.
The week before I left my capo on while playing lead. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Who makes that kind of mistake. For those of you who don't know. A capo changes the key so basically I was playing the key of Ab when I should have been playing in the key of G.

First Drive Rolling Up

July 28, 2007 10:06

My first drive with an instructor is on Tuesday. I hope this person is ready. I'm not sure I am. I have been informed that on you first drive you have to do hill parking. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! I've already tried I was still a foot from the curb. I hope I'll do well considering that I've got 2 1/2 hours in so far.

Piano Lessons and the Sommerdorf Family

July 23, 2007 16:46

I now have finally contacted a piano teacher. I'm so excited! Although it's a 1/2 hour away and the lessons are 1/2 hour I'm not complaining. With only one year to go before college, I'll take anyghing. I'm not used to having piano lessons. So let's hope I do well.
Also the Sommerdorf Family will be at our church. I don't know if anyone out there knows them, they are a singing family. They also on their newest cd sang a song my pastor wrote. (Track 9-Give Me Souls) I'm excited that they're coming. Anytime there's a musically inclined family coming I get excited! Yay!

The 1st Week Is Over

July 20, 2007 10:18

I made it through the first week. Four left. I am pained by the girl who sits next to me. The teacher asked us what should we look for under the car when doing a pre-drive check. Do you know what she said? "Bad people," I was trying not to laugh out loud. But the guy behind her is worse. Before class started he tapped her on the shoulder as asked: "What's that button you press that shoots you out of the car?"
Has the public school education system gone down hill from where it was 100 years ago? Apparnetly if this is what I have to put up with.
I want a grand piano if you would like to donate, please e-mail me. Only joking, kind of.

Driver's Education

July 17, 2007 16:09

The first day of driver's education went well. Although I felt a little out of the loop it was ok. I sat by a complete stranger, not by choice mind you, but that was ok. The teacher, Margo Peterson, was the founder of the school. I hope I learn something usefull. I got through. Although it was sad that she pronounced my name incorrectly. That's ok I forgive her. Hope tomorrow goes well.
Quiero un piano de cola, si usted querría donar, complacer correo electrónico mí. Sólo bromeando, la clase de.

(For you Spanish speakers help me translate this correctly. If you don't recognize it, it's my famous saying: I want a grand piano, if you would like to donate, please e-mail me. Only joking, kind of.)

Drivers Ed Here I Come

July 13, 2007 13:47

I get to start drivers ed on the 17th. I'm kind of nervous because I'm homeschooled and haven't been in a classroom setting for four years. I don't think I'll fit in well. Oh, well. I guess I'll try to deal with it.

Piano Lessons

July 10, 2007 11:23

I have been considering taking piano lessons againg the only problem is it's 30 mins away and $75 a month for 4 30 min lessons. This seems short to me since my previous piano teacher, Jamee Stiff, was kind enough to charge $10 a lesson for 1 hour when I started piano. So I'm in a dilema since I won't be able to get my license untill October because of state law stating that I must have my permit for 6 months. And this piano teacher makes you lock in a date and time. So I'm feeling really frustrated.
