Last night, an all-Liszt program showed off the musicality and bravura of pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet to the full. Never have I been so so happy to close my eyes and allow the notes to paint their own colours and there were countless variations waiting to surprise the audience at the turn of every phrase. Three encores and standing ovations later, the notes still linger in my ear.
