
1) I went to Taiwan with my family in October, for the first time in 11 years. Here is a picture of me playing my cousin's erhu:

I managed "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star", though it was a weird feeling to press the strings without the support of a fingerboard and to manipulate the bow hair so directly. I have even more appreciation now for those people who manage stuff like Zigeunerweisen or the Introduction & Rondo Capriccioso on this instrument!
2) My violin teacher has me working on Piazzolla tangos for a music festival in Feburary. They are SO much fun, and it's neat to see a playful side to him as we work on the musical aspects of the pieces.
3) I got laid off in November and thus have a lot more leisure time, though somehow it hasn't translated into increased violin practicing...
