Deep breath. I've been playing for 9 months now. When I first decided to take on this instrument, I had no idea how long I will stick to it. I have a habit of hobby hopping so I wouldnt be surprised if I had given up after 3 months. 9 months! I'm happy for myself that I am still excited about the violin everyday!!
Part of it, I may credit to my teacher. She may not be the best teacher in others eyes, but she works with me perfectly. Yes, sometimes I have to sit on a suzuki piece for a few weeks, but she never dwell on it for months until it's performance ready before I can move on. If i have to play one piece for 6 months before moving on, no doubt I will quit. I just don't have that kind of patience. Some areas she will identify that needs work for me, but this area will come up in other pieces and we will continue to work on them.
I am also returning to the little chamber orchestra that I played. Yeah, I was out of my mind, I joined that orchestra when I only had 3 months under my belt and it was a great experience, although I was completely lost the first few weeks, I had the guts to stick it out and it was very rewarding. I survived playing Haydn symphony.
This season, we will be playing some of the Brandenburg Concertos. I didn't really realize how much progress I've made till my rehearsal, I was able to play the vast majority of the piece sight reading it first time! (some hick ups of course with faster runs), I'm very proud of myself.
And again, thanks for all of you who ever offered me help and support here!
