YouTube Symphony Orchestra II!

December 10, 2010 00:40

Hi everyone! I'm exhausted-- preparing for finals my first semester at Juilliard and super-excited to be playing in a concert next Monday conducted by the new Philadelphia Orchestra director, Yannick Nézet-Séguin!

I was also thrilled to learn at midnight that I have made it to the voting round for the YouTube Symphony Orchestra, which will be held next March in Sydney, Australia. In 2009 I was invited by YouTube to be an official vlogger along with Jeremy Denk at the inaugural YTSO congress. This time I decided to apply to be a member of the orchestra. I recorded the three excerpts, and the required Bach and Mozart at home over Thanksgiving break, and uploaded them to my YouTube channel on November 28, a few hours before the deadline. Then I submitted them to the competition on the Symphony page. During the past few weeks I received a couple of messages indicating that my entry had progressed to the point that I would be a "finalist or alternate". The 300 finalists were announced at midnight tonight and I was happy and relieved to see my video had made it through!

For the next week-- from December 10 to 17-- you can vote once a day (I think you can vote for multiple entrants, even within a category).

HERE'S HOW TO VOTE: Please go to this link - http://goo.gl/ZhWln - and scroll down to find my video. Click on "Vote for this video". You can vote EVERY DAY from December 10th-17th! Your support means so much to me! THANK YOU!
