I've been playing the violin for little over 2 years, and have gotten my self into the senior division of my local youth orchestra, as well as first violinist in my school's orchestra. I've read that beginners should only practise for about 1-2 hours a day, but I don't feel like this will be enough. I currently practise for around 5 hours a day, but I'm not sure if this is too much practise (if there is such a thing) or if I should cut down a bit. My teacher said that it was great that I had devoted 5 hours a day to practise, but I just wanted to see some other perspectives and opinions on the topic.
TweetI agree. 5 hours is a lot and I don't know if you could add any more than that. My best advice would be to practice as much as you need too, as long as it's not mindless.
