Money in the Violin Case

October 29, 2006 13:45

Like usual, I was practising outside some closed shops (used to be in the park nearby) near my teacher's home after arriving to my lesson too early. There was hardly anyone around so I thought it would be safe.

After a few runs of scales and technical works, I started playing Meditation. A lady came by and walked around then said, "there's hardly anyone here isn't it?" and she threw $1.50 into my case (which was unintentionally opened). It's unofficial, but I'm now a professional busker!

I found a cello teacher. Pre-lesson-get-to-know-each-other will be on this Wednesday evening. I subsequently read on the internet that he's somewhat famous and just returned from NY. Robert Ekselman, anyone heard of him? I haven't told him that I play the violin, which now I think is a little stupid. I didn't want any expectations from him I guess. I better be honest because it will be obvious once lesson begins.

I'm really loving the C string on the cello. It's so powerful!

Concert 4 is on this coming Saturday, playing Mendelshon's overture, Elgar's cello concerto, Borodin's Stepping into Central Asia?? and Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet overture. Maybe one day I'll get to play Elgar on the cello :-)

I'm having an affair

October 24, 2006 18:01

I bought a cello yesterday! Why did I do that? It's now sitting in the living room next to my violin. I feel like I'm having an affair with the cello and cheated on my violin.
