To catch up-
Regionals this year was great! We had an amazing conductor. And finally, the orchestra was the best of the three groups (it has always been the worst in this region...)
The high school did a really strange "concert" at the mall... that was really weird!
I went to a Phoenix Symphony concert with one of my friends. It was probably the strangest concerts I have ever been to. The water was off in the building, so the skipped the intermission. And, the conductor was sick, so someone else was conducting, and they did a different program then had been planed...
The high school spring concert went well, except the lighting was somewhat off, so it was hard to see the music. Also, there was one piece where the firsts and seconds switch places. And, the techies had set the seconds' chairs too close, so my stand partner and I kept running into one another.
At the college, we somehow managed to get through our concert, somehow...
Then, we had an open rehearsal at the high school for next year's new students and their families. It sounded so bad!!!!! But it was so much fun! We were mostly sightreading new music. And, at one point our conductor got a phone call and had us just keep playing while he talked to his wife......
At the college, we had a really weird (and somewhat scary) rehearsal. A light on the main stage fell and shattered about half an hour before rehearsal, and if it had fallen during rehearsal, we wouldn't have anymore trumpet players.
Then, at the college, we did the music memory concerts. We played the program 3 times, in less than 3 hours, for 3000 3rd-5th graders. The kids were great (the loved the bassoons and the tuba). It was really fun!
Last week, my lesson was great (if very long).
On Sunday, I got to see the Phoenix Symphony perform the New World Symphony. It was amazing! They did a wonderfull job.
