Well, it all started when my conductor noticed that there was a jingle bell part for 'Sleigh Ride'.......... and as he also directs the drum line, he decided that he would play that part. To to be honest, the piece sounded a lot better with the bells. So, this was all well and good, but then, someone made the comment that any piece of music could be turned into a chrismas carol by simply adding jingle bells................ Being the group of people that we are, we had to test this theory:
Twinkle - works
Mozart's 12th - works
Danse Macabre - if you can keep from laughing, it works
We tried some other pieces, but I can't remember what they were. Anyway, it was very fun. And, if you are ever in need of more Christmas music, just add jingle bells........
I hate Physics and Chemistry and PreCalc.............. (not always, just tonight...)
So, school starts at 7, and I get home at 4. From 4-5:15 I did homework. Then, From then till 9:30, I was at a lesson and rehearsal. Then, I had more homework to do... Its now 11:20 and I'm still doing homework. This it crazy!!!
So I should probably get off line so I can get more than 3 hours of sleep...
Good night
Also, we were supposed to fill out these surveys so that they could better announce us. Well, one of the questions asked what pets you have. And, I have (in addition to other pets) two sugar gliders. And they lady who was introducing me was going on about how she had never heard of gliders before, and how she looked them up on google and discovered that they are adorable marsupials. Then she suggested to anyone in the audience who hadn't heard of gliders to look them up when they got home... yeah, I thought that was amusing...
I don't think I have much else exciting to write...
Good bye Beethoven's fifth - hello Messiah...
Beethoven was good. I love the fourth movemtnt, its so big and loud and exciting
Messiah has been fun so far, we're playing movements 1-21 and 44. Tonight, we worked with the soprano soloist, and that was interesting.
Also, I started working with a colege student who hasn't played in about 15 years. I'm not really a teacher, more a practice partner. Anyway, she's really nice, and I think this will be fun. And, I'm sure this will be good for me as well as her.
