An update from yesterday's weather...

Amazingly, everything has cleared up. The creeks are still running, but the flash flooding has pretty much gone down.

However, another storm is supposed to come in today or tomarrow.

This weather is amazing!!! It has been raining non-stop for about 24 hours, and all the streets are flooded... There have been voluntery evacuations in parts of town... Part of the road from my house to downtown is covered be nearly 2 feet of water... A local river rose 11 feet in 24 hours! For Arizona, this is really great, and amazing, and I am really loving the weather!!! (my violin on the other hand.......)

Today, my parents told me that for my birthday, they are going to take me the see the Phoenix Symphony play Dvorak's New World Symphony. I am very excited!

At the moment, the violin seems like an impossible instrument to play... Oh well, I'll get over it...

Happy Holidays!

I just had one of the best music lessons in my life! I learned a new position for both hands ( left is ok, right will take a lot of getting use to). And it was great and incredable. And Dr. Kuhns (spelling???) is really funny. And 1.5 hour lessons and so much better than .5 hour lessons. Concerding my terrible run of bad teachers (both flute and violin) I am feeling very relieved!!!

We had finals today - I think it went ok. There were lots of mistakes, but our conductor said he would grade based on effort rather than quality. I am not really looking forward to a two week break, I will miss orchestra.

Tomarrow,, I have an audition (flute) for one of the high school bands. I hope it goes ok.

Ladt night was my high school's hoilday concert. It was really fun. Orchestra played Concerto Grosso, Christmas Concerto (by someone whose name is slipping my mind).

Next Monday, I have my first lesson with my latest new teacher. I hope it goes better than last time.

Acker Music Festival
note: Acker Music Festival is an evening where about 80 groups / performers set up in the stores down town and play holiday music. Several thousand people come and wander from store to store.

I love performances like this, they are so much fun. We got to bank one a little early and had to move the orchestra three times before we could start. Because of the location, the audience surronded us on all sides. There was one man standing right behind me who kept looking over my shoulder at my music. Then he would tell his friend how good our concertmaster was. That was a little distraction. We only played for half an hour, but it was really fun!
