Todd Ehle

October 5, 2010 at 03:24 AM ·

I do not know how Mr. Todd Ehle can be profiting from all this effort that he provides via youtube, which i'm not paying for. I do not think the publicity garnered can possibly explain the many free lessons he's giving. It seems to be so selfless and giving, and i do not know whether he reads this board or nor but its so great what he's doing.

I second that! I really enjoy Mr. Ehle's website and videos - they are very helpful, and I really appreciate the effort he's put forth posting all of that information...

I'm another fan of Todd's videos on technique and etudes.

I've had a couple of email exchanges with Todd and found that he's a generous and inspiring guy.

He explains his motivation here:

In a nutshell, he had a period when he was disabled by injury and decided to use it to pass on his love of the instrument. And also to pass on what he had learned about playing safely, to help others avoid the problems he was experiencing.

Might be nice if V.Com could give him, and other such selfless V people, some sort of award or recognition ...

Oh, and yes, I've been though probably half of his videos....

September 28, 2013 at 12:02 PM · Anyone have Todd's email? I found an error on his site that I think he would like to fix.

And how come this topic didn't go to saturation - after all, is there anyone here that has not looked at his videos for free?

September 28, 2013 at 12:44 PM · hear-hear!

September 28, 2013 at 10:29 PM · I don't recall seeing this thread when it was first posted, but I will say that I finally figured out a half decent sautille with Todd's video assistance.

And hear-hear from me too-too. Genuinely warm hearted and well developed assistance. As is Roy Sonne's (also on this site), and hoping I haven't left someone off, I think I may have).

Laurie, let's do the award.

September 29, 2013 at 09:54 AM · On another music forum, when someone wants to learn to play the fiddle and get a sound technique, but no face-to-face teacher is available, I direct them to Todd Ehle's website to give them a good start. Feedback has generally been good.

September 29, 2013 at 06:40 PM · I friended him on facebook and keep in touch with him that way. Nice guy.

September 29, 2013 at 08:15 PM · thanks Emily - I'll try that.

September 30, 2013 at 02:17 PM · I want to say a big THANKS to Mr. Ehle as his tutorial videos not just helped me as a player, but also as a teacher. Using some of his method to teach my students really worked like a charm!

October 2, 2013 at 01:10 PM · thumbs up for Todd Ehle. what his videos show very well is something Simon Fischer also says in his books: violin playing is just a collection of basic techniques that are each in themselves very elementary. what makes it difficult is that you have to do 20 of them at the same time. when Todd focuses on one particular technical aspects he looks often even a bit embarrassed to having to have to explain something so elementary...
