It is always enlightening to watch and listen to the greats, and this performance is stunning. Both violinists use their bows effortlessly and beautifully and the sound is glorious. Thank you for posting.
Lovely! A lyrical, tasteful, rather extroverted, rendition. The tempo seems absolutely right to me. Sensitive ensemble playing that I would expect from Cho-Liang Lin and am pleasantly surprised to hear from Kyung-Wha Chung. And no fussy or laborious intellectualizing. Thank you, Sung-Duk

Sublime. Did they perform mvt 3 as well? Would really like to see it.
There is a video of Menuhin and Oistrakh doing Bach 1043, if you are interested.

November 14, 2007 at 09:50 PM · They go well together. This is one of the few modern versions of bach slow mvmt that doesn't seem labored. The faster tempo lets it sing and easier to phrase, and easier to listen to. The passion is all there, but the vibrato is not. It's way to fast and narrow. They are very sensitive, though. They always let the singing line come out. Thanks for posting!
