7 violists at SCSO rehearsal Tuesday night! A real section and big numbers for a community orchestra. I could feel the influence on my playing. My intonation was improved and my confidence soared. My stand partner kept making positive comments about how great I was sounding. Nice rehearsal. :)
I am trying to balance 3 orchestras this fall. I have 3 folders full of music to practice and we'll see how it goes. The orchestra at North Avenue Presbyterian is the smallest and is more like a true chamber orchestra. The music is not too difficult, but I feel very exposed and want to be spot-on with those pieces. The orchestra at Jonesboro Methodist is large and the music more challenging, but there are two violists and a great conductor. I may have to give up my seat there, but I just enjoy the group so much I'm having a hard time letting go. The Southern Crescent Symphony started back last week and we have an ambitious concert scheduled for October. It is all Russian music and I will need many hours of practice time to feel accomplished there.
New job, new apartment in the ATL, lots of playing opportunites. Life is good.
