The Children's Concert last night was well attended and we played beautifully. Of course Peter and the Wolf was a big hit. The dancers had great costumes and the set was good too. They had a very realistic tree for the bird and cat to climb on. The role of Peter was a little harder to "buy" seeing that the dancer was easily in his 40s. Oh well, it is his ballet company after all, so I guess he's entitled. I played a little air bow on the fugue at the end of the Britten piece. I practiced so many hours on it and mastered the notes, but never got up to the conductor's speed. I'm quite sure I was not alone.

Our next concert will be with 2 piano concerto competition winners. I think it will be a Mozart and a Bach piece but we haven't gotten the music yet. My church orchestra conductor has stepped up the level and number of tunes we are playing. We sight read 2 to 3 new pieces every week now. I enjoy sight reading with this group- it's a group of very talented adults for whom music is a passion but not their source of income. We have a judge, several lawyers, my veternarian, a CocaCola exec and of course lots of teachers in the group. I'm on winter break this week and hope to get in some extra hours of practice. I am so motivated to work harder!
