Several of you requested that I post a vid, well here it is. It is Josh Groban's Broken Vow, it isn't perfect, I can hear my slightly off notes, and I realize that I ended on an up bow. I just got my fiddle tweaked and put new strings on, so it is still settling in. Enough with the excuses........here it is. www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6jTLMRSiNQ
Let me know what you think!
I can't figure out how to get the vid up on my blog, so click the address link.
Hi, very good for the time you've been playing! It's solid and quite much in tune, so you may very well evovlved in a solid player! (not of those who have a very shaky sound)
People say we can learn this... but from my audience and student experience, these trademarks are often there since day one. At equal training, students who tend to play solid and with confidence (or at least apparent confidence for the audience lol) since day one (even if every detail is not perect and that there are some mistakes. btw even pros can make mistakes...) are those who will continu that way. Those who sound goaty or shaky or very shy, will often play that way for many years. (I said just from my experience with the pupils I heard. I don't want to generalize or offense people. I'm sure wonderful exceptions can occur too.)
I'm not a teacher but I would say you are on a very good path! By the way, are you using a violin for left handed (press the strings with your right hand and bow with your left hand?). I know it exsists but I have never seen one!
Good luck in your journey,
Anne-Marie
No, I play the fiddle the normal way, but my vid camera and my computer don't play well together (Logitech and Mac). I still think this vid sounds squeaky and hesitant, thank you for the support!
Well, then less squeaky and hesitant than most people that have played for the same amount of time than you that I have heard : )
