Initial forays into electronic effects and other things

February 27, 2008 at 1:16 PM

Last December, I got a Realist pickup for my violin. I got it because it's the simplest and most compact product of its kind I could find.

I was able to take it on a test spin a few days ago, using a flanger pedal. Hesitation aside, I like the possibilities and look forward to explore electronica some more.

On a completely different front, I'm trying to think up a short story for kids that involves a violin, string theory, resonance, flying, and angel hair...

I'm open to ideas ;-)

I haven't listened to your recording yet, and might never 'cause I'm a lazy biotch. But I like you, so I might.

But a word of caution about your setup. I noticed it's throught the F-hole and everything. Somebody will step on your cable and yank the hell out of your violin. I would tie the cable in a knot around the shoulder rest or something so it won't break everything when it happens...

P.S. the story should be easy to think up. Kids don't know anything. Just say anything. They'll go "Whoaaaa..."

Hi TJ!

I don't have a sound card on my computer, so I won't be able to hear your recording. But I'm sure it's pretty great :)

As to the story, how about a storyline on a little girl, or boy, playing around the house, ending up in the attic and finding a dusty old violin. Maybe you can start from there.

Regards :)
