I've been noticing that on occasion, someone inquires as to whether there are any valid physical exercises [aside from instrumental ones] which can assist a violinist in achieving greater power and control in the fingers. Well, there IS such a battery of specialized exercises, actually in existence since 1904 or so. It's called the COWLING SYSTEM, and it's available again.
