Csello!

How many times have I been playing around on my violin and come to a place where it would just be "right" to have a note below G?

Ah, yesterday my violin teacher's parents were polishing a cello they were going to sell. It's a beautiful instrument with gorgeous curl in the wood and and a big, booming voice...

And a Cing!

"Baby!" I murmured, helping my teacher to hold the instrument.

"Elephant baby," he countered.

I pouted and tried to look into the f-hole. I plucked the strings and tried stopping and plucking them from the rather awkward position I had.

"Duoooom..." said the elephant baby.

I can't describe how badly I wanted to try to play it. Of course, part of this was my natural curiosity, but another part was my attraction to the Cing.

Maybe I should get a fiveing violin to play with for a while so I can try to get the Cing lust out of my system. *google, google, google*

Then again, maybe not. $3800 is a little steep for what could be a passing curiousity.

Oops! I have to run to pay off the last for my carbon bow! Finally, the Leopold will be entirely mine! I could tell he was excited about it last night, he sounded particularly vibrant and clear. This morning we were all a little sleepy, though.

Right! Gotta go! Whee!

I am *so* with you on the C string...

Try a viola. They're awesome. I'm planning to restring one of my spare violins to make it into a small viola (I'm a small person, so that'll work just right).

Of course, the cello is marvelous, too. Just slightly expensive!

Or you could just detune your G, or even buy a cing and put it on! Many exam boards over here (england) accept using a violin strung as a viola. I think :-)
