Twelve Hours of Good Luck
July 24, 2008 at 1:22 AM
When I checked my email this evening, I saw a new message with the subject “Moonlight Madness! $15 Tickets to Leon Fleisher Plays Mozart.” The message said that for 12 hours, from 6:30 PM, July 23 to 6 AM, July 24, the Baltimore Symphony would sell tickets for all currently unsold seats for $15. I looked at the time, and it was 6:32 PM.
The concert, called “Leon Fleisher Plays Mozart,” is a celebration of Leon Fleisher’s 80th birthday. He is both conductor and pianist for the occasion. The works on the program are Mozart’s Symphony #35 (Haffner), Piano Concerto #12 in A Major, and Symphony #40. The latter is one of my favorite pieces in the whole world and has been since childhood. I’m really looking forward to this concert.
