I feel so... free.

...maybe it's a lingering side-effect of last week's fever.

Two weekends ago (I lost a week due to a bad cold brought on by Alex's matriculation in day care, but that's another story) I actually played a whole dance! I subbed in last minute for another fiddler who'd pulled his back out rather seriously. It was at Ethan Allen Days, a Revolutionary War encampment that happens every year in Manchester, VT. Not a huge dance -- we had about 6 couples for each dance, though, which is just enough. We didn't get a break, though, because the caller didn't want to lose any dancers. Still, it was fun to get out and play, and although by the next day I was sick, I heard second-hand that people were talking about a "fantastic fiddler" who'd played at the contradance. So I'm pretty happy. I have no idea whether I'll get paid or not, honestly. I was just pleased to remember most of the tunes...

And, Midori is playing locally in July, and I just bought tickets. Woohoo! Now to find a babysitter...

Oh, what fun! And I love this attitude:

>I have no idea whether I'll get paid or not, honestly. I was just pleased to remember most of the tunes...

And shall I congratulate you on your son's daycare matriculation? (Mommy freedom! But ground zero for the world of head colds!)

It's good to hear from you again, Patty. I hope you're feeling much better soon.

Actually, Daddy freedom -- but Daddy got hit worse with the head colds. He's been out of commission for 3 weeks, and in that time has had a total of 5 days in the office. We're not really sure how this day care thing is going to actually *help*...
