I am a self learning person and would like some input on a violin program. I know nothing replaces a live teacher so give me what you feel
the violinmaster pro or the masterviolin pro download what do you think
I must also add I am learning by myself with dvd's
just as you stated..."nothing replaces a live teacher"
Just some quick tips to a fellow-person who also learns from DVDs (me too!! haha)
Like my 4 year old daughter's Suzuki violin teacher says,
"Before you start playing, check yourself: make sure
(1) you turn your head to the left and touch your left shoulder with your chin, then lift up your head and put your violin on your left shoulder. Rest your Chin on your chin rest (not your cheek!) Your violin should be pointing to the left, NOT in front. The violin's neck should extend out to the left of your body.
(2) check that your right bowing arm's elbow is near to your body (this prevents you from accidentally touching another string with your bow when playing) Your elbow should be close to your body even when playing the thickest G string. Only your hand needs to move upwards. Your elbow should still stay very relaxed and close to your body.
(3) Tilt your bow hair slightly towards you. This prevents the bow from making a metallic screeching sound when playing very close to the violin's bridge.
Hope this helps!!!!
Happy fiddling!
Shawn
